Double Dipped Oreo Truffles
Crushed Oreos and cream cheese rolled into truffles, dipped in white chocolate, then dipped again in dark — the reaction is always the same: eyes close, knees buckle.

Back before I had a food processor, I ground Oreos by hand — sealed in a plastic bag, beaten against the counter until every last chunk disappeared. My food chopper does the same job in a fraction of the time now, which has saved a good amount of my sanity.
These are my go-to for showers and other events where the room skews toward women who appreciate a good truffle. My favorite part is watching someone try one for the first time: eyes close, chew slowly, knees buckle. Works every time.
Ingredients
- 1 regular size package Oreo cookies
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 10 oz. bag dark chocolate wafers
- 10 oz. bag white chocolate wafers
- small amount of white chocolate, melted, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- 1Grind the Oreos into fine crumbs using a food chopper or food processor.
- 2Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and cookie crumbs together until well blended.
- 3Using a mini ice cream scoop, portion the mixture onto a wax-paper-lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- 4Melt the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe dish in 30 second intervals, stirring after each, until completely melted (don't overheat, or the chocolate will scald and clump).
- 5Remove the truffle balls from the fridge and re-roll for a smooth outside. Insert a toothpick into each, dip fully into the white chocolate, gently shake off the excess, and place back on the wax paper to harden.
- 6Return to the fridge to set, then melt the dark chocolate wafers the same way and repeat the dipping process.
- 7For decoration, put melted white chocolate in a squeeze bottle and drizzle over the tops.
- 8Place in mini muffin liners and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Tips
- I love using Ghirardelli dark and white chocolate wafers for this — I usually find them at Wal-Mart or Food Lion.
- You can simplify this by dipping just once, in either chocolate, and drizzling with the other instead of double-dipping.
