All-purpose seasoning mixes are the answer whenever I'm trying to throw dinner together fast and don't want to dig twelve different spice jars out of the cabinet. This one gets used so often in my kitchen that I feel genuine dismay when the container starts running low.
It goes into just about every Mexican-style meal we make — quesadillas, salsa chicken, enchiladas, taco salad, bean burritos, you name it. Mix up a batch, keep it in an airtight jar, and dinner gets a whole lot faster.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 tablespoons ground cumin
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
Instructions
- 1Combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk together well.
- 2Store in an airtight container and use as needed.
Tips
- This seasoning shows up in a ridiculous number of recipes at my house — quesadillas, salsa chicken, enchiladas, taco salad, Mexican corn dip, you name it.
Storage & Reheating
I typically double the batch and store it in a pint container, since life falls apart a little when we run out.
