When it comes to nachos, I like mine to be like my party guests: loaded. Any time I order nachos that claim to be "loaded," they always seem to be lacking on the loaded part. Maybe I'm just picky.
When I make them at home, the one non-negotiable is not running out of that cheesy topping. Combine that with family, friends, and football, and you've got a loaded good time.
Ingredients
- 1 bag restaurant-style tortilla chips
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 16 oz. jar salsa con queso
- 1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese block, grated
- Guacamole, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes, for garnish
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Spread the tortilla chips into an even layer on a baking pan.
- 2Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked through. Drain.
- 3In a medium bowl, stir together the cooked beef and salsa con queso.
- 4Sprinkle half of the grated cheese evenly over the chips. Spoon the beef mixture on top in an even layer, then sprinkle with the remaining cheddar.
- 5Bake until the cheese is melted, 6-10 minutes. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Tips
- Freshly grated cheese melts smoother and creamier than pre-shredded cheese.
